Sometimes International versions have unique artwork and for this reason can be highly sought after. These examples would usually be missing the ratings information, as what may be classed as a PG in the US may be something different in the UK. International versions were still printed in the US, but destined for the foreign market. They were contracted to print/distribute the majority of all film posters in the US (also some destined for the international markets) and their work is instantly recognizable by the unique coding system (NSS Number) which adorns every title that they printed, whether this be printed on the lower border or stamped on the rear. NSS versions can be found from just prior to WW2 up until the mid 80’s. They are nearly always found rolled, and for this reason they are considered highly desirable. These were destined for promotional purposes or gifted to cast/crew and are usually identical to NSS examples. Studio versions were printed during a films initial release directly by the film studios themselves. A small minority were shipped rolled, usually US ‘Studio Style’ examples and it is these that are most desired by collectors who are seeking a poster for display. Prior to the early 1990’s the vast majority of posters were distributed to theatres folded. There may also be staining/soiling, discolouration or light fading.įAIR – POOR: A poster with very significant use/damage, which would require extensive restoration to achieve a presentable appearance, or even a possible candidate for cannibalization to repair an identical poster of a higher grade. GOOD: A poster that is heavily used, which can have significant tears/paper loss, an excessive number of pin/staple holes, significant fold separation and tears, tape or tape marks to the front and repair tape to the rear. For older posters, there may also be minor bleed-thru of a stamp, mark or writing applied to the back of the poster. It may exhibit staining, creasing, scuffs/wear, discoloration, slight fold separation, small tears, increased number of staple marks, increased level of fold wear compared to ‘Fine’ and minor paper loss. VERY GOOD: A poster that is well used but still presentable. It will show signs of use, such as pin/staple holes to the corners, edge dings/creasing, surface creasing/marks and minor wear to the fold lines. This is generally the highest grade that you will find film posters listed, this allows for minor edge dings and creasing to the surface.įINE: A poster showing light wear. NEAR MINT: A poster that is virtually unused. It is highly unlikely you would find a poster that will truly achieved this grade. MINT: To achieve this grade a poster would have to be totally flawless, no markings or creasing of any kind whatsoever (inclusive of oily fingerprints on high gloss examples). Please feel free to contact us should you require a more detailed condition report. If a poster has been linen backed (see FAQ’s) we will grade it as per its current condition and endeavor to highlight any flaws it may have had prior to the backing/restoration process. Please bear in mind that this is genuine ‘theatre used’ advertising material and it will inevitably show some sign of use and its age. When listing a poster we use the guide below to provide you with a fair assessment of the posters condition. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander visitors are advised that listings on this website contain images and names (by way of posters or photographs) of people who have since died.

How it worksĪt Fracture’s manufacturing facility, based in Gainesville, Florida, the process begins with large sheets of durable glass that’s scored and snapped by hand to the size you ordered. Not only was the process to upload and edit my photos simple and intuitive – and I was able to adjust the contrast, brightness and levels of my art through the website – the system even warned me that one of my photos didn’t have a high enough resolution to print at the larger size I had in mind. I ordered a few Fracture prints for myself this fall to dress my bedroom walls. To display multiple mounted photos, use the Photo Wall tool to choose from one of eight preset layouts, then upload your photos accordingly to create a stunning collage. Storyboards mount to the wall via hidden brackets and house the photos in three grooves so you can stack and layer your prints to create dimension. Available in glossy or matte finishes, Fracture prints can be ordered in a range of sizes from 5-inch squares to 21-inch by 28-inch rectangles and range in price from $25 to $179.ĭisplay your photos in multiple ways, either hung directly on your wall or displayed side by side on the wooden Fracture display shelf, called the Storyboard. Glass print maker Fracture offers a quick, simple and beautiful way to turn your photos into unique works of art. A sleek, modern and creative approach to photography is glass printing. Maybe you just need a fresh take on this time-honored gift tradition. Giving photographs as gifts can be overdone, but that doesn’t mean you can’t share special memories via this medium. A screw that comes in the box with the Fracture fits in perfectly all you have to do is find the perfect spot.As the winter holidays inch closer, you might find yourself running out of gift ideas for your friends and loved ones. Hanging the Fracture was equally easy the glass is attached to a backing board that has a notch in it. It's safe to say the photo arrived completely unblemished, and even a little ahead of schedule. The picture itself was zip-tied between two pieces of cardboard that were suspended in the middle of another large box. I've ordered products for years from so many vendors, and Fracture might have the best packaging I've seen. Once the box showed up, I realized that was misplaced anxiety. I ordered the largest size (21.6" x 28.8") and was a little worried about shipping. Once ordered, your Fracture is handmade in Florida and sent. I don't use Instagram, but I think more photo services should support square-sized photos, if they don't already. You can order Fractures in traditional landscape and portrait sizes or square sizes, for those amazing Instagram photos. It'll place an asterisk next to sizes it thinks are risky, too. If the tool thinks your small photo is going to be a blurry mess at 3x its normal size, it'll gray that option out. My favorite part of the upload tool is that it checks the resolution of your photo, and uses that to limit your max size. Fracture's upload tool does have some light editing tools, so if you want to make the photo gray scale, or give it a quick crop, you can. You upload your photo, pick your size, and order. The process of ordering a Fracture is similar to ordering a photo print through any other online service. Well, I finally found one: A commissioned portrait by one of my favorite web comic artists, Sarah Andersen. I knew I wanted to print this out and put it on my wall, but it was special enough that I wanted to give it the Fracture treatment. The process puts less space between you and the artwork, and doesn't require a frame to hang.įor years, I'd hear podcast hosts talk all about how great their Fractures were, while I tried to find a picture I wanted on my wall. They've differentiated themselves by printing pictures directly onto a single pane of glass. I'd heard about the photo service Fracture years ago they've been talked about on a lot of my favorite podcasts. I'm particular because what you put on your walls, much like what you wear or how you carry yourself, tells the outside world a lot about you. I moved into my new apartment over half a year ago and only hung up three things, two of which have gone up in the past month. I'm very particular about what decorations I put up on my walls.įor the last two years of college, I couldn't find anything I really liked, so I left them blank.
